Funeral services for Selma Wittenhagen, 85, of
Leesville, will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church of Leesville.
Visitation will be Friday, July 8, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
Ms. Selma Wittenhagen
passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
She was born March 23, 1931 in Omaha, Neb.to Harry and Francis Hovdet.
Ms. Wittenhagen was self-employed as a bookkeeper. She lived in Vernon parish for 40 years and was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church. She played the piano and organ, Ms. Wittenhagen played the organ in church, she was also a past church treasurer.
Ms. Wittenhagen loved ceramic work, cake decorating and baking. Ms. Wittenhagen was famous for her Rhubarb
pie, zucchini bread, but most of all her oatmeal cake. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary #145.
She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
Ms. Selma Wittenhagen was preceded in death by her
loving husband of 59 years,
Dwain Vernon Wittenhagen; parents, Harry and Francis Hovdet; son, Gary Wittenhagen.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Eric Wittenhagen and Brian Wittenhagen; two daughters, Diane Mayo and
husband, Earl, and Cheryl O’Malley and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Donald Bloomquist, Matthew Bloomquist, Tabitha Mayo, Nikki Pignotti, and Megan Pignotti; great – grandchildren, Cameron Bloomquist, Rylan Pelt, Myah DeCote, Jameson Pignotti and
Riley Weis.
