Funeral services for Mike L. Owers, 52, of
Leesville will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the McInnis Cemetery in Anacoco,.
Visitation will be Friday, April 1st from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and
on Saturday from 1:00p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
Mike was born on August 22, 1963 in Boise, Idaho. He passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in Leesville.
Mike was a farmer at heart. From a very young age he
learned the skills of farming and would spend countless hours working the farm. He loved planting his garden and growing food that he would share with anyone who would take it. He was most happy when he was on his tractor tending to his garden or
“just piddlin around his place”.
He served for over 23 years with the U.S. Forest Service. He was called upon many times to travel all over the United States to fight forest fires. In 2015 he retired from the Forest Service as an
Assistant Fire Management Officer.
He is survived by his Daughter and Son-in-law: Haley & Andrew Langton of Leesville; his Grandson: Jackson Langton of Leesville; his Mother: Nelda C. Owers of Leesville; his Brother and
Sister-in-law: Danny & Dee Owers of Leesville; his Sister: Gwynn Laurent of Anacoco; Special Friend: Marilyn Spencer of Leesville; First Cousin: Tommy Chance of Leesville;
