Funeral services for William H.
Martin, 92, of Leesville will be held Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 2 pm in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Sandy Brister officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery, under the direction of Labby.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 4 pm until 9 pm and on Thursday, from 8 am until time of service at the funeral home.
William, the son of Harry D. and Elizabeth Belle (Sutton) Martin, was born on October 26, 1923,
in Arkansas City, Kan. He passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, in DeRidder.
Mr. Martin enlisted in the United States Army on April 16, 1943 in Portland, Ore. He was honorably discharged on October 30, 1945 at Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. He
was a brick mason after his tour of duty with U.S. Army. He moved to Leesville in 1975 and worked as a brick mason at Fort Polk.
He retired from the Brick Mason’s Union of St. Louis, Mo. and was a lifetime member. He was also a lifetime
member of the VFW and American Legion in Leesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bertha Faye Moss Martin, she passed away on September 17, 2003; son, Harry Wayne Martin, he passed away on January 21, 2014 and eight
siblings.
He is survived by his children, Norma Faye Balster (Frederick) of Chesapeake, Va., Barbara Joan Flynn of Portland, Ore. and Diana Lynn Martin of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Joe Martin of Texas; seven grandchildren; two
step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
