Funeral services celebrating the life of Madleine
Perkins Thompson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Occupy #1 Baptist Church, Pitkin, with Brother Sherman Busby officiating, assisted by Brother Brad Perkins and Brother Joey Whitener. Burial will follow in Occupy #1 Cemetery
under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
Pallbearers honored to serve include Tyler Thompson, Justin
Thompson, Heath
Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Max Antony and Matt Johnson. Honorary
pallbearers are Dale Thompson, Benson Wayne Thompson, Trevor Thompson,
Tanner West and Austin Thompson.
Madleine Perkins
Thompson, 89, passed away on January 7, 2016, at Tioga Manor Nursing Home.
Madleine was a member of Occupy #1 Baptist Church for 74 years and was strong in her faith and the epitome of a servant. She loved sewing, quilting, cooking and
baking. But most of all, she loved her family, and was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and friend who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her
husband of 55 years, Erby Thompson, Sr.; infant
daughter; grandchildren, Wade Kemp and Gregory Thompson; great-grandchildren, Clayton Sweat and Kelsey Thompson; parents, Caleb and Stacy
Mancil Perkins; brothers, John and Otis
Perkins and sisters, Madle and Elaine
Perkins.
Madleine is survived by sons, Erby Thompson, Jr. (Morgan); Ricky Glen
Thompson (Wanda);Roger Dale Thompson; Gary Thompson (Michelle);
daughters, Wintar Kemp
(Jay); Quita Sue Antony (Max); Sheila Johnson (Mike);
20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Nona Pearl Cloud and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to
express a “Special Thanks” to the staff, nurses and
doctors of Tioga Manor for the excellent care given to their mother.
