Memorial services for Alejandro (Alex)
Castaneda Sr., 70, of New Llano, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015, at the Saint Michael Catholic Church in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home
of Leesville.?Visitation will be held Sunday, December 27 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m.?Alex, the son of Cenobio and Carmen Maria Fabela Castaneda, was born August 11, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas. He passed away
peacefully Monday, December 21, 2015 at his home.?Mr. Castaneda served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran, having served multiple tours and earning multiple citations and awards, to include a Bronze Star for Valor. He retired after
22 years of service as an E-7, Sergeant First Class. He then retired with Lockheed Martin at Fort Polk. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #387 and a lifetime member of VFW Post #3106. He was an avid mechanic, rebuilding older
vehicles and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. ?He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Francis Jerene Guthrie Castaneda of New Llano; sons Alex Castaneda, Jr. of Fort Worth, Texas; Chris Castaneda and wife, Sarah
of Lafayette; Simon Castaneda of New Llano; and Haden Castaneda, also of New Llano; brothers: Jessie Castaneda and wife Helen of Bridge City, Texas, Simon Castaneda of Port Arthur, Texas; sister: Ampero Capallera and husband Ceasar of Beaumont,
Texas; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
