Lorraine Schmetzer

Lorraine Bourget Schmetzer, 79, of Leesville
passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 22 in Alexandria. She had lived in Leesville since 1964, moving to the area with her husband to help reopen Camp Polk. She was a cook at several restaurants in the area, such as B.J.’s Diner, and was former owner of the
Barbecue Hut in New Llano.
She was member of the American Legion, VFW and the 40&8. Dancing, cooking and riding her horses brought great joy.
Mrs. Schmetzer was born March 3, 1935 in Lewiston, Maine to Armand and Juliette
Brissette.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and son.
She is survived by her sons, David K. and Thomas Foote; her daughters, Carol Tachibara of Fort Rucker, Alabama, Rebecca Riley of Delaware, and Linda M.
Johnson of Leesville; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schmetzer’s wish was to be cremated. Pastor Bobby Ganaway of Christian Living Fellowship Church will officiate a private memorial service at a later date.
