Douglas L. Taylor Sr.

Graveside services for Douglas L. Taylor, Sr., 92, of Anacoco will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Anacoco with Rev. Derrick Addison officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 5-8 p.m. in
the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Douglas, son of Everett and Mary Taylor, was born Jan. 15, 1922 in Slagle. He passed away Sept. 25 in Many.
Douglas graduated from
Anacoco High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army with the 673rd Bomb Squadron. He served in several campaigns in the Pacific Theater, Philippines and Saitan Island.
After he completed his service in the Army, he returned to Vernon
Parish and married his sweetheart, Nettie Jean Addison, and were married 67 years.
They moved to Lake Charles, where he worked for Olin Allied Chemical Company, from which he retired after 40-plus years. In 1993, they moved back to
Anacoco, where he went to work for the Anacoco Water Department for a number of years.
Douglas loved to putt around his yard and he loved to fish, especially with his brother-in-law Richard in Pennsylvania.
Douglas was preceded
in death by his parents and a sister, Gloria Dell Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nettie Jean Taylor; sons, Douglas L. Taylor, Jr. and Robin G. Taylor, all of Anacoco; sister, Glenda Nell and husband Rodney Monk of
Hineston; four grandchildren, Leah Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Robin G. Schlegel and Tera Taylor; and five great-grandchildren.
