Funeral services for Samuel “Sammy” Thompson, 78,
of New Llano will be held at 10 a.m. on Dec. 14 in the New Llano Baptist Church, with Revs. Les Comeaux and Randy Boswell officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the Restlawn Memorial Park in Vidor, Texas,
under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 13, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Dec. 14, in the church.
Sammy, the son of William Marcus and
Lola Jane Moss Thompson, was born on June 28, 1935 in Leesville. He moved to Vidor, Texas in 1972, and was a member of the Pipefitters and Plumbers Local #195 for over 35 years. He passed away on Dec. 11, 2013 in New Llano.
He was preceded
in death by his parents; his loving wife of 42 years, Juanita Wedgeworth Thompson; and two brothers, Walter Thompson and Billy Thompson.
Sammy is survived by his sister, Patsy Perkins of New Llano; one sister-in-law, Faye Garrett of Vidor,
Texas; three nieces, Reitha and husband Randy Boswell of Leesville, Sharon Perkins of New Llano, and Sherrica and husband Ralph Littlefield of Albany, Ga.; and a host of great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
