Funeral services for Hattie V. Owers, 71, will be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 27 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Hornbeck, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral
Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Nov. 27 at the funeral home.
Hattie passed away peacefully with the love and devoted care of her cousin Diana Davis and family in her home in
Galena, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents, Macy McClendon Owers and Herman Owers.
She is survived by her sister, Janice Owes Reeks; nephew, Thomas Reeks; and niece, Darlene Reeks, all of Hornbeck. She also leaves behind her
best buddy and devoted dog, Bonnie Sue, and a host of friends that truly loved her.
Hattie was born Feb. 8, 1942, in Jennings, but was raised in Hornbeck. Hattie was a graduate of business school and worked at BellSouth in Leesville,
before transferring to Bosssier City, with the company and retiring after 30 years of service. Hattie loved being outdoors fishing, gardening and spending time with her dog, Bonnie Sue. She loved a good story and loved to tell one. “I’ve said all
that to say this,” her favorite saying will truly be missed by her family and friends.
