Charles Sherman Corley, 87, of Groves, Texas
passed away Aug. 22, 2013 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Texas.
He was born on Feb. 9, 1926 in Toro, to David and Martha Jane Moore Corley.
Sherman had lived in Groves, Texas since 1954 and was a member of
Friendship Baptist Church, Toro Lodge #253 in Hornbeck, and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Valley of Galveston, Texas.
He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving during World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Sherman was
retired as a pipefitter from Texaco.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Aug. 26 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 26 at Levingston
Funeral Home in Groves, Texas with Rev. Travis Cox of Friendship Baptist Church in Groves, Texas officiating.
There will be a visitation Monday afternoon from 2:30-4:00 p.m. at Beech Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Anacoco,
followed by a Masonic graveside service in Beech Groves Cemetery, conducted by Toro Masonic Lodge #253 of Hornbeck.
Sherman was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Gwendolyn Corley.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristi
Corley Wallace and husband, Danny of Groves, Texas; two sons, Steve Corley and wife, Kathy of Groves, Texas, and Brad Corley of Groves, Texas; sister, Eunice Fitts of Groves, Texas; five grandchildren, Luke Corley, Jacob Wallace, Caleb Wallace, Blake
Corley and Will Corley; and one great-grandson, Levi Corley.
