Myrtle Mae Smith, 105, of Beaumont, Texas passed
away Aug. 6, 2013 at Gulf Health Care Center in Port Arthur, Texas. She was born on Dec. 24, 1907 in Anacoco to the late William J. and Nancy Malinda Langton Tilley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Aug. 10 at Melancon’s Funeral
Home in Nederland, Texas. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 10 at Beach Grove Methodist Cemetery, following the service. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Aug. 9 at the funeral home.
Myrtle was
preceded in death by her parents; her son, Billy Self; and her daughters, Leatrice Stephens, Anita Hester, and Maisie Lee. She is survived by her sons, Douglas “Salty” Smith and wife, Mary Kay of Nederland, Texas, and Kenneth B. Self and wife, Carol
of Salem, N.H.; nieces, Suzie Munz of Beaumont, Texas, Nancy Midkiff of Baton Rouge, Barbara Schwartz of Shreveport, and Judy Drzewieski of Michigan City, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and 2
great-great-great-grandchildren.
