Funeral services for Geraldine “Jerri” Cryer Zills, 64, of Rosepine, will
be held at 2 p.m. on June 23 at the Rosepine United Pentecostal Church in Rosepine, with Revs. Gary L. Bankson and Dale Mortenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosepine Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
DeRidder. Visitation will continue from 11 a.m. until the time of services on June 23 at the church. “Jerri” passed away June 21, 2013.
“Jerri” was born on Aug. 30, 1948, to Virgil VanBuren Cryer and Daisy Keel Cryer in DeRidder, and
lived all of her life in Rosepine. She was a teacher’s aide at Rosepine Elementary School for 25 years. “Jerri” was a longtime member of Rosepine United Pentecostal Church, where she taught Sunday school. She founded the Vacation Bible School program
at the church and has overseen the program since its inception, even while fighting cancer for the past several years. She was also director of the Children’s Ministry at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Roland Zills
of Rosepine; one son, Clark Gregory Zills and wife Rhonda of Rosepine; brother, Andy “Buddy” Goins, Jr. and wife Shirley of Haughton; sister, Glenda Sue “Jan” Burns and husband Eugene of Rosepine; and two grandchildren, Mikayla Danielle Zills and
William Clark Zills. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Juanita Sheffield and Ruth Elaine Vallee. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.labbymemorial.com.
