Talmadge O. Gordon

Talmadge “Madge” O. Gordon passed away peacefully in her sleep at 6:20 a.m.
on June 9, 2013 at Deer Creek Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Melvin E. Gordon; mother and father, Henry G. Trawick and Dora B. Trawick; brothers and sisters, Charles Kendrick, Cleo West, James “Buck” and Jo
Gordon, Lester, Ulmer, Luther, and Cecil Gordon; daughter-in-law, Yvonne Gordon; and great-granddaughter, Hayden M. Sumney-Thompson.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth A. Gordon, and Joyce and G.W. Sumney Jr., all of Leesville;
brothers and sisters, James “Bobby” and Jane Trawick, William “Bill” and Brenda Trawick, and Wesley “Buddy” and Betsy Trawick all of Mobile, Ala., Marilyn and Bruce Adkins of Dauphin Island, Ala. and Luverne Kendrick of Mobile, Ala., Bobbie West of
Petal, Miss., Ann Gordon of Jackson, Miss., Vivian Gordon of Waynesboro, Miss., and Wayne and Ann Johnson of Leesville; grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Thompson, Derland Sumney, Melissa and Chad Koonce, and Christopher Bainer; great-grandchildren,
Melanie Sumney Thompson, Matthew and Hunter Thompson, Briana and Christan Cable, and Alexis and Chandler Koonce; and countless nieces and nephews.
Madge was born April 22, 1938, in Eiler, Ala. but was a long time Vernon Parish resident.
Madge worked at Sheila’s Beauty Shop in Leesville. But after leaving the beautician field, she was a wonderful stay-at-home mother and wife. She was a devoted military wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She
touched every life she encountered. She will be greatly missed by many.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on June 11 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on June 12, also at the funeral
home. Burial services will follow at Drakes Fork Cemetery in Cravens, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville. Mrs. Gordon will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Melvin and great-granddaughter, Hayden.
