Melvin Hicks

Funeral services for Melvin Hicks, 81, of Leesville will be held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 5 at First Baptist Church of Anacoco with Bros. D.R. Davis and Wallace Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco, under
the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-10 p.m. on Feb. 4, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Feb. 5 at the church.
Melvin was born Dec. 31, 1931 in Leesville to
James and Mary Rivers Hicks.
Mr. Hicks was a lifelong resident, entrepreneur, and businessman in Vernon Parish. He loved helping people and worked to try and find ways to help someone. He served his country in the Army. His favorite
things in life were car racing and his family, whom he loved beyond measure.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death, exactly 11 years to the day, by his wife Elizabeth. He was also preceded by two infant sons; his parents and a brother, James
Arleigh Hicks.
Melvin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Randell Langton of Leesville; a very special friend, Carolyn Fields of Anacoco; two brothers: Travis and Bonnie Hicks of Leesville, and Sherman and Billie Nell
Hicks of Lake Charles; two sisters, Janis and Tom Knapp of Leesville, and Ann and Jim Partington of Altus, Okla.; three grandchildren, Leila and Jonathon Pollard, Shana and Scooter Pollock, and Jarrett Isgitt; one great-grandson on the way, Noah
Pollard; and a host of other family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
