Johnny Brooks

Johnny Brooks, 65, of Leesville, passed from his earthly life to a heavenly life on Jan. 19, 2013, at his residence in Leesville.
He was born April 8, 1947 in Leesville, and was a longtime resident of Leesville. Johnny lived
life to the fullest, and during his lifetime, he was in the Vietnam Conflict while serving in the U.S. Air Force, and also served as an automobile transmission specialist, a Kansas City Southern Railroad conductor for 20 years, a business owner of
“Satelvision” home satellite dish installation, American Polar Air Refrigeration Company, and L.J. Trucking Co.
His enjoyable hobbies included flying aircraft as a private pilot, riding dirt bikes, playing the clarinet, listening to
music, gardening, cooking Thai food, reading non-fiction, studying science, and -practicing photography at weddings, sporting events and family gatherings.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 45 years, Patricia Antee
Brooks of Leesville; two daughters, Jeana Brooks of Leesville, and Deana Dougherty and husband Alan Dougherty of Anacoco; five grandchildren, L.J. Autry, Lindsay Atry, and Brandon James of Leesville, and Mitchell Shaffstall and Miranda Doughterty of
Anacoco; one great-grandchild, Kylie Reeks of Leesville; his father, J.B. Brooks of Leesville; two brothers, Tommy Brooks of Florien, and Randy Brooks of Lake Charles; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends.
Johnny was
preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Burns Brooks; his sister, Belinda Brooks Hernandez; and his niece, Candace Hernandez Parker of Leesville.
After the interment, a memorial tree planting service will be announced.
