Doris MArie McElveen

Funeral services for Doris Marie McElveen, 79, of Anacoco will be held at 2
p.m. on Dec. 31 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 29 at the
funeral home, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Dec. 31 at the church.
Doris, the daughter of William and Alta Guckian, was born Oct. 20, 1933 in Gonzales, Texas. She passed away Dec. 27, 2012 in Alexandria.
Doris
formerly worked at South Central Bell as an operator, then as a nurses aid at Byrd. She also was a full time homemaker and loved to cook.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward McElveen; grandson, William Edward Orme; two
brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish Doris Marie’s memory is her son, James Collins “Skooter” and wife Susie McElveen of Anacoco; daughters, Sharon Kay McElveen of Leesville and Shirley Jean and husband Mike Orme of Anacoco;
sisters-in-law, Francis Guckian, Margie Guckian, Jackie Jackson and Eunice and husband Clinton Kay; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and also a number of nephews, nieces and extended family of which she deeply loved.
The
McElveen family wants to sincerely thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the Riverside Hospital and the Compassionate Care Hospice for all the love and care they gave to Doris.
