Homegoing services for Melba “Pie” Chance Gillespie will be held at 2 p.m.
on Dec. 16 at Gum Springs Baptist Church in Hornbeck. Officiating will be Revs. Wayne Chance, Buddy Freeman, and Mike Haynes. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the church.
Melba’s life began Jan. 26, 1943, in the Plainview
Community and she went to be with our Lord on Dec. 11, 2012, at the Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, as she was surrounded by her family.
Left to cherish her memories is her husband, Tyrace Gillespie; mother, Gennie V. Fisher and husband
Howard Fisher; sister, Nelta Nolen and husband Jessie; half-sister, Helene Parker; brothers, Randy and wife Spencer Chance, Delwin and wife Janice Chance; children, Keith and Deborah Sigler, Randall Sigler, Sonya and Mitchell Smith, Jennifer Sigler,
and Alecia and Chris Rubar; grandchildren, Bryan Keith Sigler, Ashley Lee, Courtney, Allie and Jessica Smith, Lakin Hardy, Morgan Whiddon, Christine, Peyton, and Austin Rubar; great-grandchildren, Kaison, Alexis, Delaney, Ryder, Cullen, and Makenzie;
and a host of nieces, nephews, and very special friends.
She was preceded in death by her daddy, Woodrow Chance; nephews, Justin and Mark Gillespie and daughter-in-law, Geneva Sigler.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Keith Sigler, Trey
Nolen, Henry Nolen, Tim Chance, Paul Marriott and Edward Rubar.
The Honorary Pallbearer will be Justin Whiddon.
