Jirlene Walker Spears

Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Jirlene Walker Spears, 87, will be
held 1 p.m. on Dec. 15 in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, with Bro. Kenneth Baggs officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Oakgrove Cemetery in Hornbeck, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home,
Leesville.
The family would like to welcome guests for visitation from 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 14 at Hixson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Spears was born Feb. 17, 1925, in Hornbeck, to the late Thomas Jefferson Walker and Laura Luticia Dowden
Walker, and was called home Dec. 13, 2012, in Leesville. She was a caring and generous woman with a deep faith in God. She was loved dearly by her family and a host of friends. She will be remembered for her warm smile and her delicious pecan pies.
She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Spears was preceded in death by one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Spears; her husband of 55 years and the love of her life, William Cullen Spears; her parents and one sister, Velma Walker Richie.

Left to cherish Mrs. Spears’ memories will be two sons, Lynn Spears, and Jerry Spears and wife Debbie of Pineville; one daughter, Sharon Spears Yeomans of Lafayette; three sisters, Betty Behan, Elma Lee Gass, and Maxine Bridges and
husband Edward; one brother, Thomas Jefferson Walker, Jr.; three grandchildren, Ryan Arceneaux, Lindsay Arceneaux Legendre and Brian Spears; four great-grandchildren, Julian Arceneaux, Cullen Arceneaux, Grant Legendre and Christian Spears; along with
many extended family members and numerous great friends.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Greg Lord for his loving care over many years as well as Dr. Jose Mathew, Dr. Guru Ghanta and the nursing staff of Byrd Memorial
ICU.
