Rodney D. Durbin

Funeral services for Rodney D. Durbin, 71, of Pitkin will be held at 2 p.m.
on Dec. 9 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Pitkin with Rev. J.D. Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Branch Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Dec.
8 at the funeral home, and from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service on Dec. 9 at the church.
Rodney, the son of Allen George and Mattie Rachel Foster Durbin, was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Oakdale. He lost his battle with cancer on Dec. 6,
2012, with his loving family by his side.
Rodney was a native of Oakdale, but lived most of his life in the Pitkin area. He was a veteran of the Army. Mr. Durbin worked at Fort Polk in pest control and retired after 22 years of service. He
was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Oakdale.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Durbin.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail Maddox Durbin of Pitkin; sons, Gregory Durbin and wife Sandy of Pitkin, and
Timothy Durbin and wife Brandy of Lake Charles; daughter, Rhonda Gorman and husband, J.D., of Richmond, Va.; brother, Glen Durbin of Ville Platte; sisters, Wilma Young of Port Arthur, Texas and Gloria Roberts of New Llano; five grandchildren, Bailey,
Ty, Abigail, Trent and Ella; and one great-grandchild, Quaid.
