Violet Virginia Manning

Funeral services for Violet Virginia Manning will be held at 3 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Nancy Hendrix officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Labby
Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Nov. 25, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Nov. 26 at the funeral home.
Violet was born Jan. 30, 1943 in Grandview, Tenn. She entered
eternal rest on Nov. 22, 2012 at Willis Knighton Hospital North in Shreveport.
Violet graduated from Fort Knox High School, Fort Knox, Ky. and studied business administration at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She resided in
Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas and Berlin, Germany before moving to Louisiana in 1969. She worked for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service and then as a Department of the Army civilian before her retirement in 2003. Later, she worked
at the Main Post Chapel at Fort Polk.
Violet was a volunteer for the Army Community Service, the Glad Tidings Food Pantry, the Southwest Louisiana Disaster Recovery Center, and the Southwest Louisiana Independence Center. She founded the
Central Louisiana Chapter of Federally Employed Women (FEW) and served as its first president, and then as Secretary to the Southwest Regional Board.
Violet was a member of First Presbyterian Church of DeRidder. She was preceded in death
by her parents, J.C. and Gladys Hayes Manning. She is survived by aunts, several cousins, and many friends.
