Funeral services for Gertrude L. Phelps, 89, of Leesville will be held at
11 a.m. on Nov. 3 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Jerry Penfield and Bro. Wallace Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be
held from 2-9 p.m. on Nov. 2 and from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Nov. 3 in the funeral home.
Gertrude, the daughter of Elias and Louise Sandell was born Jan. 8, 1923, in Hornbeck. She passed away Oct. 28, 2012 in Webster,
Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Louise Sandell; husband, Hobert Phelps; son, Larry Phelps and daughter, Kathy Phelps.
Mrs. Phelps’ favorite place was in the kitchen, where she loved cooking. She loved
to sew and help other people; but most of all she loved to serve the Lord and her church.
She is survived by her son, Jerry and wife Mary Beth Phelps of Pasadena, Texas; brothers, Ed Sandell of Palestine, Texas, Sammy Sandell of Houston,
Joseph Sandell of Anacoco and Lynn Sandell of Lytle, Texas; sisters, Dorothy Clay of Denton, Texas, Francis Jones of Denton, Texas and Gloria Stout of Houston; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
