Florence Ann Carpenter Allen

Life celebration and memorial services for Florence Ann Carpenter Allen, 77, of Leesville will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Canaan Baptist Church with Bros. Morris Goins and Jerry Penfield officiating, under the direction of Labby
Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Florence Ann Carpenter entered this world on Jan. 14, 1935 at Providence, R.I. She joined Darius “Bud” Allen in holy matrimony on Sept. 18, 1954. Florence spent many years as a homemaker and mother, yet
managing also to drive a school bus in Exeter, R.I. for 15 years. After the passing of her husband Bud, Florence became actively involved in volunteer work with the Warwick Senior Center in Rhode Island. Relocating to Vernon Parish in 2003, Ms. Flo
(as she was known to many) became involved in the Vernon Council on Aging, serving as a board member, Byrd Senior Circle and AARP. She volunteered at the Woodlands Retirement Center for two years prior to becoming a resident. She attended First
Baptist Church, thoroughly enjoying her Sunday School class. In addition to making jewelry, Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, Ms. Flo enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, eating crawfish, time with her family, and sunsets on Lake Vernon.
Ms.
Flo graduated from this life very peacefully on Sept. 15, 2012. Those left to celebrate her life include her sons, Bob Allen and his wife Debra Holler-Allen of Leesville, David Allen and wife Tammy of Breaux Bridge, and Nathan Allen and wife Nicole
of Wildomar, Calif.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, Ms. Flo requested contributions to your local church.
