Funeral services for Doris E. Simmons, 75, of Rosepine will be held at 2 p.m. on Sept. 12 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Officiating will be Rev. Roy Housier. Burial will follow in Lewis Cemetery in DeRidder, under the
direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder. Doris passed from this life on Sept. 8, 2012, at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. on Sept. 11, and from 9 a.m. until the time of services at Labby Memorial Funeral
Home in DeRidder.
Mrs. Simmons was born on Feb. 24, 1937, to Clara Wyatt Dowden and Robert Edward Dowden in Coldwater. She lived most of her life in Rosepine, and she was a cook at Rosepine High School cafeteria for 14 years.
Survivors include her husband of 32 years, George W. Simmons of Rosepine; son, Billy E. Simmons and wife Joyce of Leesville; stepson, Earl Wayne Simmons and wife Linda of Rosepine; daughters, Paula Pickering and husband Frank of DeRidder, Debbie
Beebe and husband David of Cabot, Alaska, Lulu Kubena and husband Gerard of El Campo, Texas, Sue Maxwell and husband Bill of Livingston, Texas and Carla Helton and husband Gordon of Enterprise, Ala.; brothers, Charles Dowden and Jerrell Dowden, both
of Edgefield, S.C.; sister, Betty Watson of Oreta;13 grandchildren and 21 great-great-grandchildren.
