Funeral services for Charles H. Goins, 71, of Anacoco will be held at 10
a.m. on Aug. 13 at East Leesville Baptist Church with Revs. Jerry Key, Kevin McAllister, and Dennis Hackler officiating. Burial will follow in the Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Aug. 12 in the Chapel of Labby Memorial Funeral Home, and from 9 a.m. to the time of services on Aug. 13 in the church.
Charles, the son of Howard Lee and Mildred Virginia
Davis Goins, was born on May 31, 1941, in Leesville. He passed away on Aug. 11, 2012 at the Grace Home in Alexandria.
Charles worked at Fort Polk from 1973-2003 at the Directorate of Information Management. He was a member of the Board of
Directors for Farm Bureau. He played on the 1959 basketball team at Anacoco High School and was a member of the Starting 5 Anacoco Scholarship Committee. He was the founder of the Little Dribblers Association of Anacoco. He had served as Song
Director at Toledo Bend Baptist Church, and was a Singing School Instructor. He was an active member of East Leesville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and the Treasurer of the ELBC Bass Club.
He was preceded in death by his
father, Howard Goins
Charles is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Goins of Anacoco; his mother, Mildred Jones of Anacoco; two sons and daughter in laws, Scotty and Michele Goins of Anacoco, and Michael and Deanne Goins of Anacoco;
sister, Beverely Wilson of Anacoco; and four grandchildren, Bradley, Trace, Whitney, and Blake Goins.
