Gwendolyn “Gwen” Edith McDonald Baker of Anacoco, went to be with the Lord
on July 17, from Byrd Memorial Hospital in Leesville. Visitation will be at the First United Pentecostal Church, from 4-9 p.m. on July 20. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on July 21 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville with Rev. Mark
Christian, Rev. John Burns and Rev. Alvin Glaze officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in Anacoco under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
The following nephews will be Pallbearers: Bobby Joe
Golemon, B. J. Golemon, David Golemon, Josh Golemon, Larry Brian and Patrick McDonald. Honorary Pallbearers (grandsons) will be Johnathan Summers, Nathan Summers, Preston Baker, Isiah Vernon, Tanner Jeane, Cameron Johnson and Donavan Goleman.
Gwen was born in Harris County, Texas, on September 12, 1949, and is the daughter of Homer Vertis and Arbie Evelyn Reynolds McDonald of Houston, Texas. Forty-four years ago she met and married Robert Lee Baker. She worked as a cashier at the
commissary at Fort Polk and retired a number of years ago. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, proud MeeMaw, loyal friend and a devout prayer warrior. She was an accomplished seamstress as well as a talented beautician. She received the Holy Ghost
in June 1968 and was a long-time member of the First United Pentecostal Church. For many years she volunteered as a matron at the Louisiana District UPC Campground in Tioga.
Gwen is survived by her husband of 44 years, Robert Baker; three
daughters, Alice and husband John Vernon of Anacoco, Sarah and husband Dan Summers of Anacoco and Nancy Baker and fiancé Timothy Goodeaux of Moss Bluff; one brother: Homer McDonald and wife Charlene of Livingston, TX; one sister: Elaine Golemon and
husband Bobby of New Llano; twelve grandchildren: Sydney Viduarri, Johnathan Summers, Shelby McAlpin, Nathan Summers, Sarah Vernon, Preston Baker, Isiah Vernon, Tanner Jeane, Cameron Johnson, Moriah Vernon, Helaina Jeane and Kara Johnson. She is also
survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
