Funeral services for Donna Dunavin Abernathy will be held at 2 p.m. on June
12 in the Oak Grove Bible Baptist Church in Hornbeck with Rev. John Northway officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.
until the time of service on June 12 at the church.
Mrs. Abernathy, 58, of Leesville passed away on June 9, 2012 in Alexandria after a long illness. She was a native of Beaumont, Texas, but grew up in Vernon Parish, where she attended
Hornbeck High School. She was a homemaker.
Preceding her In death were her parents, Alton Max Dunavin and Willie Mae Jett Dunavin Doyle; sister, Judy Dunavin and brother, John H. Brown.
Survivors are her husband of 24 years,
Joseph M. Abernathy of Leesville; two sons, Luther Brister Jr. and wife Linda Gail of New Llano, and Joe Abernathy Jr. and wife Cynthia of North Carolina; two daughters, Judith Smythe and husband Donnie of Anacoco, and Joy Howerton of North Carolina;
one sister, Dorothy Willis and husband Jerry of Hornbeck; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
