Funeral services for Raymond Willie Crager, 84, of Leesville will be held
at 2 p.m. on May 22 at Sunny Hill Baptist Church in Kurthwood, with Rev. Millard Monk and Rev. E.J. Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. on Monday, May 21 until the time of services Tuesday in the church.
Raymond, the son of Joseph Daniel and Lula Weeks Crager, was born March 11, 1928 in Alco. He passed away on May, 18, 2012 in the
Byrd Regional Medical Center in Leesville.
Mr. Crager served 20 years in the United States Air Force. While stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, he graduated from the NCO academy. After retirement from the Air Force, he
worked as an electrician for PPG of Lake Charles for 20 years. Mr. Crager was a member of the Sunny Hill Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Vernon Parish. One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking, and he taught himself to be an excellent
carpenter. Raymond loved music and playing his guitar in church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Crager; one brother, J.D. Crager and a stepson, Kevin Martin.
He is survived by his wife of over 20 years,
Lawanda Crager of Leesville; one son and daugter-in-law, Doyle and Alvinette Crager of Westlake; two stepchildren, Diane and Michael Young of Leesville, and Durwin and Jill Martin of Hutton; one brother, Leroy and Mildred Crager of Garden City, Ga.;
two grandchildren, Angela and Shawn Corkran, and Rebekah and Ray Blalock; three great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren, and 11 great-step-grandchildren.
The family of Mr. Crager would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of
Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville for their exceptional care of Mr. Crager during his illness.
