Daniel Perkins

Mr. Daniel Perkins 92, of New Llano went to be with the Lord on May 13,
2012.
Mr. Perkins was born in Pickering on March 29, 1920, to Louis Daniel Perkins and Laura Elizabeth Walker Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of First United Pentecostal Church of Leesville. He
was a lifetime resident of Vernon Parish and was famously known as the “Candy Man;” he loved to make candy and pies. Mr. Perkins was a retired self-employed building contractor. Mr. Perkins also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and writing
poetry. He loved his poodle “Lady.” Mr. Perkins loved his family dearly; he will be missed by all.
Mr. Perkins is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Daniel Perkins and Laura Elizabeth Walker Perkins; brothers, Thomas, Robert and
Samuel; sister, Mary Ethel Ordway; and son-in-law, David Coburn.
Mr. Perkins is survived by his wife Mickie Davis Perkins; daughters, Gloria Gahimer and husband, Ralph, of Leesville, and Mary Ann Coburn of Leesville; son, Danny Joe Perkins
and wife, Glenda, of Leesville; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on May 15 at the First United Pentecostal Church in Leesville.Services will be held at 2 p.m. on May 16 at the First
United Pentecostal Church in Leesville with Rev. John Burns, Rev. M.C. Green and Rev. Frank Hornsby and Bro. Glaze officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
