Bro. Clarence Vincent Chance

Funeral services for Bro. C.V. Chance of Florien will be held at 10 a.m. on
May 16 at Union Baptist Church in Florien with Bro. Erbie Barber and Bro. Wayne Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery in Florien under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be
held from 2 p.m. on May 15 until the time of service on May 16 at the church.
Bro. Chance was a minister of the gospel and served in churches throughout the area for over 50 years, including Toledo Bend Baptist Church, Lakeside Baptist and
Mt. Zion Baptist. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing fresh vegetables with many folks. Bro. Chance brought many people who had no home into his own home and shared the Gospel with them. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in
the Korean Conflict.
Bro. Chance, the son of the late Truitt Vincent and Myrtle Hennigan Chance, was born on Oct. 16, 1933, in Florien, and passed away at the Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center on May 13, 2012. He was preceded in
death by his first wife, Nelda Royal Chance and second wife, Verna Faye Brown Chance; son, Joe Chance; two brothers, Hoyet Chance and Bobby Chance; one sister, Chiwee Chance and a grandson, Steven Jett.
He is survived by his sons, Eddy
Chance of Austin, Texas and Bobby Chance of Spring, Texas; four daughters, Collene Hilton and husband Dewayne of Anacoco, Pam Johnson and husband Gary of Montgomery; Sam Chance of McKinney, Texas and Sharolette Jett Henson of Hornbeck; sister,
Carolyn Ann Chance of Springhill; brother, Mickey Chance of Shreveport; daughter-in-law, Jonni Chance of Pendleton, Texas; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
