Funeral services for Ivy Hampton Bridges, 79, of Florien, will be held at 2
p.m. on Feb. 25 at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many with Rev. Durhl Davis and Rev. Jack Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill (Ward 2) Cemetery in Florien. Visitaiton will begin at 5 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Warren
Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Many.
Ivy Hampton Bridges was born in the Rattan Community near Toro on Jan. 28, 1933. He passed away on Feb. 22, 2012 at DeRidder Retirement and Rehabilitation in DeRidder. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Ovie and Beatrice Bridges; two brothers, Curtis Bridges and Oden Bridges and one sister, Fern Burleson Herrington.
Ivy attended the Pisgah School at Toro. He later attended the Florien School after the family moved to Sabine
Parish west of and near Hornbeck. He joined the Air Force and served many years. He retired with many years of honorable service to his country. During his years of service he had tours of duty in many foreign countries. After his years of military
service, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service for many years.
He is survived by one sister, Orelee Patton of Anacoco; two brothers, Edward Bridges of Leesville and Clifton Bridges of Hornbeck; along with a host of nieces, nephews and
friends.
Pallbearers will be Everett Bridges, Danny Bridges, Albert Bridges, Gary Patton, Lloyd Burleson and Christopher Dillard.
