Luz Soriano Pilola

Luz Soriano Pilola, 90, passed away on Feb. 16, 2012 in her
residence.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Leesville, in charge of the St. Michael’s library, a member of St. Michael’s Circle and the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus and a past president of NCO Wives Club. She
worked as a licensed practical nurse at the Fort Polk hospital, was the first LPN to run a hospital ward at Fort Polk and a top-10 graduate in her nursing class. She was very loving and caring with her family as well with the patients she served
during her nursing career.
She is survived by her daughter, Leticia Pilola Sanders and husband Raymond; their children, John Phillip Sanders and wife Cassandra Ginchcomb and their children, Trista Rachelle Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, Matthew
Sanders, Caroline Sanders and William Sanders; daughter of the Sanders family, Margaret Brocato and husband Jerry (Rocko), and their children Kelly Madison Borel, Blake Borel, Anna Marie Borel; Donna Jean Hanks, daughter of the Sanders family, and
husband Roderick Lewis Hanks and their children, Cullen Michael Hanks, Caleb John Hanks and Katelyn Marie Hanks; Jason Edwin Sanders, son of the Sanders family, and wife Kristin Kordisch and their children, Austin Edwin Sanders, Abigail Marie
Sanders, Kaylee Nicole Sanders and Brady Michael Sanders; Roger Bryan Sanders, son of the Sanders family, and wife Melanie Morgan and their children, Chancey Lynn Sanders, Jacob Edwin Sanders, Aiden Christopher Sanders and Maxwell Morgan
Sanders.
She is also survived by her son, Roberto Pilola and wife Cecilia Pabalan and their children, Mary Alison Evans and husband Myron, and their children, Aydon Evans and Aurora Evans; son, Virgilio S. Pilola and wife Mariann M.
Olinger and their children, Alec J. Pilola and Shauna E. Bertrand and her husband Roman, and their children, Bailey Bertrand and Peyton Bertrand.
She is also survived by her daughter, Maria Elizabeth Gorin and husband Steve and their
child, Karen Gorin; son, Phillip Daniel Pilola and wife Carol Ann Simon and their child, Michael Joseph Pilola and wife Agatha Fulton Pilola.
She is also survived by her daughter, Alice Rosie Funk and husband Tom and their child, Erica
Funk and her daughter, Ava Dore; son, Rev. Joseph Michael Pilola, Roman Catholic Priest of the Diocese of the Houma-Thibodeaux; son, Patrick S. Pilola and wife Tammy Vidrine and their children, Christian Sean Pilola, Drew Alan Pilola and Jordan
Daniel Pilola. She is preceded in death by her husband, Felicisimo Pilola; son, Michael Soriano Pilola and granddaughter, Virginia Marie Pilola.

Becnel, Dr. Moss and Dr. Commeaux. Also thanks to the Christus St. Patrick Hospice, Sue Brooks, Angel Broussard, Marie Jacobs, Erica Funk and Margaret Sanders and DeQuincy Home Health. Our family would also like to publically thank our sister, Alice
Funk and her husband Tom, for their primary care of our mother from 2004 until our mother’s death in 2012 in their home.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 20 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph S. Pilola will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Feb. 19 and from 8 a.m. until the time of service at the church. A rosary will also be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 19.
