Funeral services for Eugene F. Stephens will be held at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16
at Hixson Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Castor Baptist Church Cemetery in Leesville. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Feb. 16.
Mr. Stephens, a native of Leesville,
was born on Feb. 1, 1927 and went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus on Feb. 13, 2012 surrounded by his family in Lafayette. He was a World War II veteran and retired from civil service with the U.S. Army. Mr. Stephens, a faithful servant of
the Lord, was always willing to share the gospel message. While residing in Leesville, he was a member and deacon of East Leesville Baptist Church and was the children’s bus minister. Mr. Stephens was also in charge of implementing other children bus
ministries in other churches he was a member of throughout his life. He was also a member of The Gideons International.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Philips and her husband, Bobby of Lafayette; two sons, Greg Stephens of
Pasadena, Texas and Rodney Stephens of Kingwood, Texas; three grandchildren, Emily Philips Berk and her husband Justin of Lafayette, Stephen Philips of Independence, Ky. and his children, Joshua and Christopher, and Angela Stephens of Ft. Myers, Fla.
and her children, Justin and Loren; sisters, Gladys Lenard and Lola Faye Johnson; and brothers, M.C. Stephens and David Arthur Stephens.
Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Legg Stephens; parents, Chester and Lola
Stephens; and three brothers, Carl C. Stephens, Reuben Stephens and J.D. Stephens.
