Jerald Mathen

Jerald Mahlen, the son of Ernest and Olive Mahlen, was born on May 9, 1942,
in Webster, S.D. He passed away on Jan. 13, 2012, at the Rosepine Rehab and Retirement Center.
Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, Ernest and Olive Mahlen.
Mr. Mahlen graduated from high school in Webster, S.D. He then went on to attend Northern State University, located in Aberdeen, S.D. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He played
and enjoyed all types of sports. He was a long time member of the American Legion. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He married Karan Halbakken on Dec. 2, 1977.
He is survived by his wife, Karan Mahlen; sisters, Jean
(Roger) Nygaard of Flint, Texas, Arlene (Bob) Helwig of Phoenix and Marilyn (Kerry) Stevens of Edina, Minn.; brother, Lee Mahlen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; six nieces and nephews; three step daughters; 10 step grandchildren and seven step
great-grandchildren.
