George Ottesen was born in New Orleans to the late Lucille and Finn
Ottesen. He is survived by his brother, John and sadly missed by nephew, John Jr. (Barbi) and niece, Pam O. Kennedy (Patrick). He died at Woodlands Nursing Home in Leesville on the Dec. 29 after a lengthy illness at the age of 66.
George
was an Army veteran with 20 years of service and an additional 20 years of civilian service. He and wife Barbara (deceased) lived in Leesville for the past 35 years.
He was a Vietnam veteran, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart recipient.
George was involved with various local associations including a life member of the VFW post 3106, American Legion.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. In lieu of flowers,
contributions to local charities are requested. Burial will be held after completion of the service in the Leesville National Cemetery by the Veterans Administration.
