Funeral services for Catherine Herring Jeane, 82, of Anacoco will be held
at 1 p.m. Sept. 15, 2011, at Burr Ferry United Pentecostal Church in Burr Ferry, with Rev. Ricky Wead and Rev. Bill Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Self Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from Sept. 14 from 6 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
Catherine, the daughter of Herbert Glenn and Dovie Inez Hernigan Herring, was born on March 29, 1929, in Hornbeck.
She passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2011, at the Sabine Retirement and Rehabilitation Center in Many. Mrs. Jeane graduated as Valedictorian from Hornbeck High School in 1946. After graduation she went on to college at the Western Union College in
Springfield, Mo. where she also graduated as Valedictorian. She lived many years in Port Arthur, Texas until retiring to Vernon Parish in 1983. While in Port Arthur, Texas she attended Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. After moving to Vernon
Parish she became a member of Burr Ferry United Pentecostal Church. She loved cooking and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She, also enjoyed writing poetry, of which she had several poems published. But more than all that
she will always been known as a “Mighty Prayer Warrior”.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Arvol Jeane.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Stringer and Kenneth of Woodville, Texas, and Linda Robison and
Terry of Anacoco; brother, Billie Herring and Rosemary of Vidor, Texas; grandchildren, Keith Stringer and Sandra of Vidor, Texas, Kena Mahan and Michael of Lumberton, Texas, Dustin Robison and Mandi of Anacoco, and Devon Kay and Clint of Anacoco; and
7 great grandchildren.
