Funeral services for Dewey “Grandpa” Rutherford, 85, of Hornbeck, will be
held at 2 p.m. Sept. 4 at Grace Assembly in Hornbeck with Rev. James Hickman and Rev. Melvin Hatten officiating. Burial will follow in the Prewitt’s Chapel Cemetery in Hornbeck, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 3-10 p.m. on Sept. 3 at the church.
Dewey, the son of Dewey C. and Lollie Hubar Rutherford, was born on Nov. 30, 1925, in Fouke, Ark. He passed away on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, at his residence in
Hornbeck.
Mr. Rutherford was a U.S. Army Veteran; he worked as an auto body mechanic for over 34 years. “Grandpa” loved his family and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and five
brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margurite Knippers Rutherford of Hornbeck; daughter, Mary Roberts and husband Bobby of Hornbeck; brother, Rodney Rutherford and wife Melissa of Converse; sisters, Linda Matthews
and Ralph of Florien, and Martha Fulco of Kansas; grandchildren, Missy and Craig Martelle, Mindy Parker, and Bradley Roberts; great grandchildren, Megan Martelle, Miranda Roberts, Taylor Roberts, Austin Roberts, Madisyn Parker, Marlee Lowe, Carlee
Lowe and McKinseigh Roberts; and special friends, Maggie and George Hickman.
