Graveside services for Mrs. Betty Jo Parker Carter were held on Aug. 22,
2011 at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Simpson with Rev. Jeremy Blocker officiating. Burial was under the care of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Mrs. Carter 80, of Simpson was born on Jan. 14, 1931, in Simpson to Howard
and Gertrude Hicks Parker. She passed away on Aug. 20, 2011 in Alexandria. She attended Simpson High School and later married the love of her life, Benjamin Carter and together they moved to Port Sulphur, where she was a homemaker and lived most of
her adult life. After Mr. Carter retired they moved back to Simpson and were members of Simpson Baptist Church.
Preceeding her in death was her husband of 60 years, Benjamin Carter; son, Mark Anthony Carter and grandson, Christopher Lee
Morgan.
Survivors are her son, Benjamin “Benny” Carter Jr. and wife Gwyn of Stuarts Draft, Va., daughters, Oene Morgan and husband Danny of Anacoco; Martha Norra and husband Jules of Picayune, Miss.; grandchildren, Benjamin Carter III and
wife Kim, Nicholas and wife Carloyn, Danny Morgan Jr. and wife, Tammy, Nicky Hoppert and husband Jayson, Jennifer, Patrick Brock and Tatum Melancon, and Caitlin Carter Issacks; great grandchildren, Benjamin IV, Brianna and Abigal Carter, Mercedes and
Danny Morgan III, Megan Donaldson, Gage Vanvoast, Kennedy and Raelynn Hoppert, Breliegh and Patrick Brock II Melancon, and Kingston and Aiva Coleman.
