Funeral services for Sara Smith Dowden, 78, of Anacoco, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2011, at Anacoco United Pentecostal Church in Anacoco with Pastor C. W. Dowden officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery in
Anacoco, LA under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 04, 2011, from 7 p.m. until time of service Friday, August 5th at the church.

Sara,
the daughter of Tolley Jackson and Audra Howell Smith was born October 1, 1932, in Ashland, Ala. She passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2011, in Houma. She was a native of Alabama but had lived in Anacoco most of her life. She was a former telephone
operator, worked at the Army Surplus and owner of Anacoco Florist. Mrs. Dowden was a longtime member of First Pentecostal Church of Anacoco.

She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Dowden.

She is
survived by her husband of 63 years Junior Dowden; daughter, Wanda Pierre and husband, Jesse of Houma; sisters, Olivia Wauhop of Humble, Texas, Joanne Carnley of VA, Della of Alabama and Alice and granddaughters, Misty, Amanda, Jessica and
Sharon.
