Funeral services for James “Harvey” Semons, 69, of Hornbeck, will be held
at 11 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Hornbeck with Rev. John Lewing, II, Rev. Jesse Arnold and Rev. Kenneth Baggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Toro Cemetery in Florien, under the direction of Labby Memorial
Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from noon, Thursday, July 21, 2011 until time of service Friday, July 22 at the church.
Harvey, the son of Calvin and Edna Ford Semons, was born on July 18, 1942, in Kurthwood.
He passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in Alexandria. Mr. Semons was a lifelong resident of the Hornbeck area. He was self-employed in construction and the logging industry. Harvey was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, where he was the
first person to put a nail in the frame of the new church. He was a loving husband, daddy and best friend to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Edna Ford Semons.
He is survived by his wife of
32 years Mary Ann Semons of Hornbeck; daughters, Talitha and husband John Lewing, Sr. of Anacoco, Darla and husband Donnie Parker of Hornbeck and Jamye and husband Jesse Arnold of Merryville; stepson, Robert Collins of Hornbeck; stepdaughters, Janice
Collins, Linda Crutcher both of Tennessee, and Teri Peek of Arkansas; brothers, Burnis Semons and wife Judy of Leesville and Hubert Semons and wife Kelly of Illinois; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and
friends.
Pallbearers will be John Lewing, Sr., Donnie Parker, Jake Lewing, Robert Collins, Mikey LeBlanc and Jesse Arnold.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Parker and Luke Arnold.
