Funeral services for Mary Ann Roberts Chambers, 71, of Anacoco, will be
held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church in Leesville with Rev. Hank Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Holly Grove Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at the funeral home and on Wednesday, June 22 from noon until service time at the church.
Mary, the daughter of Howard and Margaret Ward VanHorn was born
on March 31, 1940, in Oakley, Mich. She passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her residence in Anacoco. She was a native of Oakley, Mich. She later met and married her first husband, Donald J. Roberts on January 8, 1960. She became a military
wife and mother, traveling the world with her family and came to the Leesville area in 1972. She worked as a LPN for Byrd Regional Medical Center and retired from Bayne Jones Hospital. She was a member of Old Anacoco Baptist Church. In 2003 she met
and married Ben Chambers and attended First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald J. Roberts; parents; and her brother, Carl VanHorn.
She is survived by her husband, Benjamin “Ben”
Chambers of Anacoco; his four children and 13 grandchildren; sons, Jay and wife Susan Roberts, David Roberts and Micheal Roberts all of Anacoco; brother, Cleown “Diz” VanHorn of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; sister, Barbara Ockerman of Anacoco;
grandchildren, Charles J. Roberts, Cory Putnam, Cayla Roberts, Madison Roberts, Mason Roberts and Cameron Roberts; and great grandchild, Tesla Putnam.
