Guinell West Smart

Funeral services for Guinell West Smart will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Self Cemetery on Hwy 111, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held FROM 5-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 and from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 19 at the funeral home.
Guinell West Smart was born in Anacoco, on July 29, 1922 and died
in Baton Rouge, on June 16, 2011. She retired from the Vernon Parish School System with more than 50 years of dedicated service as a teacher, coach and guidance counselor. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a favorite aunt to four
generations of nieces and nephews. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesville.
Guinell is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Malcolm and Emilie R. Smart, of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her sisters and
brother-in-law, Magda McCormick of Many, Mickey and Curtis Penton of Sulphur, brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Georgie West of Leesville, and sister-in-law, Theresa J. West of Pitkin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John
Malcolm Smart, her parents, Ben and Lillie Craft West, and two brothers, Van O. West and Ben D. “Tiny” West.
