Funeral services for Opal Hines will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 13,
2011 in the First Baptist Church of Pitkin with the Rev. Brian Thurman officiating.
Committal service will follow in the Blue Branch Cemetery under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Mrs. Hines, 79, of Pitkin,
entered eternal rest on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center, in Alexandria.
Opal was born on July 14, 1931 in Pitkin to Earnest Thompson and Maggie Doyle Thompson. She was an active member of the First Baptist
Church. She was a dispatcher for 31 years for the Vernon Parish Sheriff Department, drove a School Bus for 13 years in Vernon Parish, a seamstress for Oakdale Dress Factory and also worked at Allen Oaks Nursing Home in Oakdale.
She was a
member of the Ladies Auxililary of the American Legion and Easter Star. She was also a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Her parents; one granddaughter, Lacey Nichole Johnson; one stepson, Jeff W. Hines; two
brothers, Ray Thompson and Ressie Gene Thompson precedes her in death.
She leaves behind her loving family to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 29 years, Ronald Hines of Pitkin; one daughter, Vickie Lynn Woodham and husband, Wayne
of Leesville; two sons, Charlie Johnson and close companion, Ann of Pitkin, and Rocky Johnson of Pitkin; one brother, Wade Thompson and wife, Jackie of West Monroe; three sisters, Olean Singletary and husband, Frank, Belva Ryan and husband, Tom, and
Carolyn Nicholas and husband, Kenny all of Pitkin; three grandsons, Jeremy Powers and wife Susan and James Powers all of Oberlin, and Carson Cupello of West Virginia; granddaughters, Carrie Eliza Woodham of Natchitoches, Molly Wisner of Deridder, and
Charliee Johnson of Pitkin; great grandsons, Jeremy Powers, Jr., and Jonah Powers, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be the Vernon Parish Sheriff Deputies.

time of service in the church.
