Dovie Joy Nolen

Mrs. Dovie Joy Nolen, 94, of Leesville passed away on Saturday, June 11,
2011, at the Woodlands Health Care Center in Leesville, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Mama Nolen, as everyone knew her, was an avid listener to the KJAE Swap Shop radio show and loved to listen to gospel music. She was a former member
of Hornbeck Assembly of God Church. Born on October 8, 1916, to Nina Bell Spears Hilton and Lee Hilton in Hornbeck, she grew up in the Depression, and on August 21, 1932, married John Nolen in Lafayette. They came back to Leesville and raised her
eight children.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in the Chapel of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville with Rev. Donnie Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery of Hornbeck, under
the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation was from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, in the Chapel of Labby Memorial and is again 8 a.m. until service time today.
Preceding her in death was her
husband, John Nolen; grandsons, Gary Downs and Michael Downs; granddaughter Brenda Wyche; and parents, Lee Hilton and Nina Hilton Jett.
Survivors are eight children, son, Arvil Nolen and wife Ella of Leesville; daughter, Lois Downs of
Hornbeck; son, Roy Nolen and wife Paula of Coushatta; daughter, Joy Lee of Leesville; son, Troy “Red” Nolen and wife Pat of Leesville; son, Lloyd “Nig” Nolen and wife Kathy of Leesville; daughter, Darnell Wyche of Longview, Texas; daughter, Barbara
Antley and husband Jackie of Leesville. Also surviving her are sixteen grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 28 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Randy Nolen, Gregg Nolen, Michael Antley, Wade Nolen, Jimmy Nolen and Jeff
Pollard.
A special thanks to the Harbor Hospice of Oakdale caregivers, Lonnie, Stacy, Donna and Kim and the staff of the Woodlands Health Care Center. A very special thanks to Mr. Jeff Johnson administrator and great granddaughter,
