Funeral services for R.L. “Buddy” Martin, 73, of Simpson, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at the Simpson Church of God in Simpson, with Bro. Bob Schlemmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in
Simpson, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the church.
Buddy, the son of Hayes and Lettie Bell King Martin was born on
March 29, 1938, in Port Arthur, Texas. He passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at his residence in Simpson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hayes and Lettie Martin; sister, Penny Martin; brothers-in-law; Jack DeHart and Wilford
Parker; father and mother-in-law, Arlice and Ruby Parker and grandmother, Sally Jackson.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda Parker Martin; son, Keith Martin and wife, Leah; daughter, Kayla Stephens and husband, Steve, all of
Simpson; adopted son, John Dunaway and wife, Geneva of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Doris DeHart of Colleyville,Texas; brother, Ira D. Martin and wife, Darlene of Jasper, Texas; grandchildren, Wesley Norris and wife, Ashley, Lindsey, Kade and Katelynn
Martin and Travis McDonald; step-grandchildren, Casey, Colton and Kade Stephens; two great grandchildren, Seth and Kaydence Norris and a host of nieces and nephews.
