Funeral services for Norma D. Russell, 84, of Leesville, will be held at 2
p.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville with Rev. Wallace Palmer and Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m., Sunday, June 5, 2011, and from 8 a.m. until service time Monday, June 6, at the funeral home.
Norma, the daughter of Burney Washington and Vivian Hawthorne Duke, was born August
15, 1926, in Bethany. She passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at her residence in Leesville. Norma and her late husband, “Jr” Russell, owned and operated the R & S Grocery #2 in New Llano from the late 1940’s until the early 1970’s. She was a
member of First Baptist Church in Leesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Austin M. Russell, Jr.; son, Tom Austin Russell; son-in-law, George Barney; grandsons, Luke Russell and William Keith Squyres, Jr.
She is
survived by her daughters, Norma R. Gass and husband John of Leesville and Diane R. Barney of Leesville; daughter-in-law, Debra Russell of DeRidder; grandchildren, Cyndi Cagle and husband Casey, Tamara Nelson and husband Rick, Kristi Ellender and
husband Gene, Leigh White and husband Shawn, Deborah Johnson and husband Craig, Melissa “Lollie” Wimberly and husband Troy and James Austin Russell and wife Lacey; 17 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
