Barbara Sliman Fontan, 56 of Leesville passed from this life on Sunday May
29, 2011 in her residence.
Ms. Fontan was born and raised in Vernon Parish; she was a graduate of Leesville High School and Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She lived in Covington for 25 years. Ms. Fontan, a school teacher
for 30 years, earned her bachelor’s and two masters in education. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, DAV Auxiliary, Soldiers Angel, and APEC.
She is preceded in death by her father, Peter J. Sliman Jr.
Survivors
include one son, Wesley Clay Joseph Fontan of Leesville; mother: Pat Sliman of Leesville; brothers, Peter J. Sliman III, wife Kathleen and niece Eden of Leesville, William David Sliman of Mooringsport; sister, Susan Sliman Benson, husband Randy, two
nieces, Rachael and Alex, and nephew, Thor of Leesville; and numerous family, loved ones and friends.
Memorial gathering will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville. A memorial service will be at 10
a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Hixson Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Michiels officiating.
A memorial service will be held in Covington, on a date to be announced later.
