Funeral services for Floyd N. “Mike” Beckcom, II, 63, of DeRidder, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with his brother-in-law, Pat O’Brien, officiating. Burial will follow in
Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, and from 9 a.m. until time of the service on Friday, April 22, all in the funeral home.
“Mike” was born in DeRidder and lived most of his life in the DeRidder/Beauregard Parish area. He was a 1965 graduate of DeRidder High School and a graduate of McNeese State University with a B.S. degree in Science, a masters in Education and
+30 in Administration. He was a retired chemistry and biology teacher at DeRidder High School with 30 years of teaching over 4,000 students. Mike deeply loved his students and his family. He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed spending time hunting
and fishing and “spinning” stories. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army where he served in the medical field service.
“Mike” is survived by his wife Sharon Beckcom; his sister Patricia O’Brien and husband Pat of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; nephew
Michael O’Brien of Marco Island, Fla.; niece Kathy O’Brien of French Settlement; stepsons Trent Buxton and Jason Buxton, both of DeRidder; and stepdaughter Kaylee Milliman of Leesville.
In lieu of flowers Mike’s family requests donations
