Doreen was born January 8, 1927 in Leicester, England, the
daughter of Frank Charles and Iris Eden Margaret Little Kendell. She passed away on Friday, February 11, 2011 in Anacoco.
Growing up in England, Doreen was a city girl through and through. Leicester was a modern city with modern
conveniences. Doreen was used to the hustle and bustle of city life, and also the luxury of electricity and indoor plumbing. Imagine Doreen’s dismay, brand new bride of John David Jett, upon her arrival in Hornbeck, in 1953, electricity and indoor
plumbing were a few years away yet, and hustle and bustle a thing of the past. But, like a true pioneer, this city girl turned country girl adjusted to her new life and made Hornbeck her home.
Doreen was a retired LPN. She worked for many
years at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Many. Doreen cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was a very faithful member of the East Leesville Baptist Church, especially in the Sisters in Christ Sunday School, and she loved going
to the Leesville Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John David Jett, Sr. and her grandson, Steven Jett.
She is survived by her sons, David James and Alice Jett of Bossier City and Johnny and
Judy Jett of Hornbeck; daughters, Carol Jett Andre and husband Jack of DeRidder and Kathy Mitchell and husband Melton of Anacoco; sister, Barbara Fairbrother of Nr Leicester, England; eight grandchildren, April Jett, John David Jett, Jarrod Jett and
wife Sandy, Joseph Jett, Keith Jones and wife, Sarah, Brent Jones and wife Jennifer, Matthew Mitchell and Heather Mitchell Tilley and husband Shane and 17 great grandchildren.
