Funeral services for Sister Virgie Dee (Muse) Walters will be at 2 p.m.
today, Friday, October 22, 2010 in Turkey Creek Faith Chapel with Reverend James Wesley and Sister Josephine Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Island Cemetery, Simpson under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Sister Walters, 88, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 with her family near her side.
In 1957 she was saved by the Lord and filled with the fire of the Holy Ghost. She was a preacher’s daughter and wife who stood
beside her husband while he taught the Gospel. She was a missionary who built churches, had tent revivals, cottage services, hospital services, healing ministries, radio and prison ministries and cast out devils in the name of Jesus all over the
country. Her ministry flowed over the borders into Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, the Barbados, Haiti and Puerto Rico. She along with her husband founded the Turkey Creek Faith Chapel; she was a personal witness to everyone she met, and she was a great
cook who fed anyone who was hungry.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Murphy Walters; an infant daughter; four brothers, Plesant Muse, Elzie “Brown” Muse, Eli Muse and Preston Muse; five sisters, Arcola Thornton, Avis
May, Alice Muse, Edith “Neeb” Brown and Lilly May.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include three sons, Elmer Lynn Walters and his wife, Geneva Ruth of Clifton, Elbert Russel (Gus) Walters and his wife, Alice F. of West
Monroe and Haley James Walters and his wife, Tammy of Gulf Breeze, Fla; four daughters, Syble Nell Clark and her husband, Dwayne of Beaver, Evelyn Arlene Chaddrick and her husband, Herman of Turkey Creek, Myrtle Faye Hazelton and her husband, Ted of
Turkey Creek and Mildred Dee Temple and her husband, Boyce Dale of Rayville; her very special friend, Josephine Ashworth; 24 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; and a multitude of friends
and church families around the world.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Travis Walters, Rusty Walters, Rex Clark, Brice Evan Messer, Hardy Hazelton and B. D. Temple, Jr.
Friends were invited to call at the Rush Chapel, Oakdale –
downtown location on Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 3 p.m. 10 p.m. They are also invited to call at Turkey Creek Faith Chapel today, Friday, October 22, 2010, from 8 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m.
