Funeral services for Melvin Wilson, 77, of Leesville, will be held at 3
p.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with the Rev. Dub Williams and Rev. Jerry Penfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Castor Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral
Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 and on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 8 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Melvin, the son of Charlie and Sophia Gunter
Wilson, Sr., was born on December 11, 1932, in Leesville. He passed away on Friday, October 15, 2010 at St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria.
Melvin was a member of Family Worship Center (formerly known as Leesville Full Gospel
Church). Melvin owned and operated S&W Electric Co., performing electrical and air conditioning work prior to retiring in the early 1980’s.
Melvin loved to fish and hunt with his grandsons, Jeremy and Rodney Wilson. He could best be
described as a true family man as he loved having his family with him, especially during the holidays. Melvin (Paw) will be missed but not forgotten and will live on through his sons, grandsons and great grandsons.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; brother, Charles Wilson, Jr. and sister, Vergie Wilson Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ada Marie Wilson of Leesville; sons, Wallace and wife, Vickie Wilson of Leesville and Al and wife, Renee Wilson
of Leesville; sister, Donnis and husband, Mike Shirley of Bend, Ore.; grandchildren, Jeremy and wife, Lorrie Wilson of Wash., DC and Rodney and wife, Genevieve Wilson of Leesville and great grandson, William Wallace Wilson.
